Our Story

The Xandari story started long before the Kerala connection — it was a piece of paradise in Costa Rica, built by architect Sherrill Broudy who had a lifetime of experience and skill, and brought alive by his wife Charlene who added vibrant art, sculpture, ceramics, and colour to the visual palette. Along with them, the idea grew with attentive design, green-thumbed gardeners, and a network of services by the local community surrounding Xandari.
Xandari is not possible without community. The people you meet here are the ones who live in the village of Tacacori. As you walk through the resort, the rainforest takes centerstage — a rivulet with three waterfalls runs along one side, with an organic farm and coffee plantation on the other. Saluting the United Nations Sustainability Goals 2030, our core philosophy rests on Community, Collaboration & Conservation as the three pillars of sustainable operations for Xandari.
Community-centered hospitality & local employment
Collaboration with local farmers & artisans
Cultural & environmental conservation initiatives
Sustainable operations aligned with UN SDG 2030

Rooted in Local Communities

At Xandari, hospitality goes beyond luxurious stays. Every experience is deeply connected to the people and traditions of the destination. From supporting local artisans and farmers to creating opportunities for women-led enterprises, we believe tourism should positively impact the communities around us.
Guests are invited to experience Kerala through its stories, flavors, crafts, and everyday moments — creating genuine cultural exchanges that leave lasting memories for both travelers and locals alike.

Experiences Built Through Collaboration

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We partner with local communities, conservation groups, farmers, and cultural experts to create immersive experiences that are both meaningful and sustainable. Whether it's sourcing organic produce from nearby farms, collaborating with eco-guides for nature walks, or supporting local entrepreneurship, every partnership strengthens our commitment to responsible hospitality and shared growth.

Conserving Nature for Future Generations

Nature is not just our backdrop — it is the soul of every Xandari experience. Across forests, beaches, and backwaters, we actively work toward preserving fragile ecosystems through sustainable practices and conservation-focused hospitality.
From reducing plastic usage and adopting renewable energy solutions to encouraging tree planting and protecting biodiversity, our efforts are designed to ensure that future generations can continue to experience the beauty of these landscapes. We believe luxury and sustainability can coexist in harmony — creating spaces where people reconnect with nature while leaving a lighter footprint on the planet.

A Paradise Built by Hand, Coloured by Heart

The Xandari story began in Costa Rica with architect Sherrill Broudy — a lifetime of craft poured into a hillside. His wife Charlene brought it alive with vibrant art, sculpture, ceramics, and colour.

Together, they created something that travelers from the early 90s still return to — a place both familiar and forever renewing.A rivulet with three waterfalls. A rainforest at centrestage. Coffee grown on the slopes. The stars of Tacacori twinkling above the valley. And a village whose people became inseparable from the experience of the place.
